Summer Hammock Chable Resort Merida

The Point Resort

Summer was on the way; Jem and I awaited it with impatience. Summer was our best season: it was sleeping on the back screened porch in cots, or trying to sleep in the tree house; summer was everything good to eat; it was a thousand colors in a parched landscape; but most of all, summer was Dill.”   ―Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

“In the summer, the days were long, stretching into each other. Out of school, everything was on pause and yet happening at the same time, this collection of weeks when anything was possible.”   ―Sarah Dessen, Along for the Ride

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”  —F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

“At these times, the things that troubled her seemed far away and unimportant: all that mattered was the hum of the bees and the chirp of birdsong, the way the sun gleamed on the edge of a blue wildflower, the distant bleat and clink of grazing goats.”  ―Alison Croggon, The Naming

“All in all, it was a never to be forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world.”

—L.M. Montgomery, Anne’s House of Dreams

Coming Soon Personal Visit – The Point Resort

The Point Resort is a distinctive hideaway, a world apart. The Point is designated as Forbes only 5-star resort in Upstate New York. Built by William Avery Rockefeller a century ago, the fanciful log mansions, crafted of native timber and stone, personified the 19th century romantic notion of roughing it in great comfort, style and luxury. Today, The Point continues the tradition of honoring guests with its unique combination of warm hospitality, privacy and utter comfort.

The great Adirondack Park is a wonderland, a six-million-acre wilderness blanketing upstate New York from Albany all the way to Canada.

The legendary “High Peaks” – 46 mountains soaring higher than 4,000 feet – form the crown of the park, and the vast forest spreads out below them. It is a wild paradise composed of countless clear, cold lakes and tumbling streams, alpine meadows, and untold miles of trails. There is a special silence to be found here, skimming on skis through the snowy woods; waiting for trout to rise to a fly; or watching the campfire flicker in the mirrored edge of a lake.https://i0.wp.com/thepointsaranac.com/images/point-resort-map.png?w=584

Great North Woods  Small clapboard villages are scattered throughout the Adirondacks, and there is art, culture and world-class sporting opportunities as well—but it is the untamed nature of these “Great North Woods,” the magic of wild places, which has drawn people for centuries.https://i0.wp.com/thepointsaranac.com/images/mohawk3.png?w=584

Summer Lakeside Dining

Open year around.  Days at The Point unfold with boating, fishing, tennis, water skiing, croquet, badminton, swimming and hiking. Nearby, you will find golf, horseback riding, hunting, antiquing and some of the best trout and bass fishing in the country… though a hammock swaying under the high pines can be a great temptation.

Canoes, mahogany electric inboards and Adirondack Guide Boats are on hand, for some secrets of the lake can only be discovered from the vantage of a boat. As the sun sets, our big Elco launch sets out for an evening cocktail cruise, a perfect cap to a perfect day.
