Great Joy in The New Year!

My recent adventure and grand tour of India reminded me again of the joy of escape, the transforation process we experience when we get away from mundane everyday tasks, the routine.

Travel is a transition; often the arduous flights and the time zones can dissuade one from ever leaving home, but once you adjust to the local time zone, well,  all these un-pleasantries are forgotten! Depart the familiar office and arrive to the unfamiliar city or village – change does transform us from an ordinary citizen to a curious traveler in a foreign environment.

One of my favorite client quotes this year from the husband of a dear friend who had resisted  safari for too many years- finally they went and he sent me an email following the first drive: YOU WERE RIGHT!   We were semi-charged by a large leopard today and I am stilrying to get my heart out of my throat. I was trying to figure out where to go. Absge eopard, then a herd of giraffes, topped off by lion vocals… Quite a night. Lovi

In Praise of India – A Monument to Love

Where to begin and where to end? Culture, color – actually technicolor, forts, traditions, mystical charm – India is an enigma. Diamonds, rubies, beautiful saris worn by women working in fields, grand palaces, small huts in country villages.

Most well known is Taj Mahal which must be seen by sunset and sunrise. Elegant, imposing, the magnificent white dome draws tourists like moths to a flame. Film and photos cannot adequately prepare one for the majesty, a visit is essential. STAY: from each room at the Oberoi Amarvilas, enjoy an uninterrupted view of one of the worlds greatest monument to love.
